It’s an absolutely appalling rumour and has no foundation whatsoever, In fact, he’s sitting across the table happily eating his dinner as we speak.

It is a bit chilly out this morning. But sunny so far, so its all good, plus, I suppose it is really and truly Autumn now, so I can’t complain.

I know, I know, talking about the weather, not exactly a gripping start to a post, and after I’ve been a tad lackadaisical about updating, but what do you expect? Do you really want me to moan about the RWC again? I can. It’d be easy. After all we did almost lose against Georgia. And as Roy Keane might say, all credit to Georgia, but, at the end of the day, we did win. And that is what is important. Never mind the shocking display. Never mind the lack of skills on display. Never mind that if it hadn’t been for Leamy getting under that ball they would have scored another try.

And now, now we have Eddie O’Sullivan dropping Stringer in favour of Reddan. Geordian Murphy out of the 22, Duffy on the bench. Trimble in for Hickie. I’m not sure I want to watch the game on Friday.

But you know what, I’m staying optimistic. Or deluded. Either way that good feeling I had before the RWC began, it is still here, and I’m sticking with it. Clinging desperately may be slightly more accurate, but whatever.

And of course the rumours are floating around about trouble in the camp. So dilemma. Do I repeat them and feed what may just be lies? Of course not. Because if the rumours of bust-ups at training are true then at least it shows some bit of passion. And while I don’t believe that it has gone totally Saipan on us, rumours of Geordan Murphy walking out may just breathe a bit of life back into the team.

Or maybe I really am totally deluded.

In other news have you heard the story about the body found on a Kerry beach, and taken away in a hearse? You know, the one that turned out to be a fish.

The world is a funny funny place sometimes.

Today’s post title was supplied by Karl Richardson and he was referring to those Saipan-style rumours.

Does Robert Jordan not get a you-googly on your site? Or even a mention? Sigh.

My favourite footballing mess this week was Stephen Ireland and the Grannies That Never Died. Although it's very sad to think that having a granny die is enough to get you sent home from an international but when your unborn child dies and your girlfriend is mourning and miserable, that's not enough?

I linked to two pieces on him down in the "lookie here too" section.

The Stephen Ireland story is bizarre. But Stan and the FAI have all said that if he had told the truth he would have been allowed home, no problem. But I think the girlfriend didn't want to broadcast it to the world, which is her right, and so the lies began.

The trials and tribulations of the WAGs, living their lives just outside the spotlight except when something goes wrong. She failed the numero uno WAG test though – nothing comes ahead of football. NOTHING. :-)

And linking is not exactly heartfelt dude. Seriously. You and I would not have become friends without RJ. Simple as. Eulogise him!

I'm now kind of afraid that my brother's predictions (on that book-cover thing I showed you a few weeks back) will come true. BTW, the Married Wan wants to get them foties of you. I was telling her to get on flickr and that you could 'friends' her but she's not sure if she can go on it at work. Anyhow, I'm sure twill work out some other way.

  4. Fence says:

Well, iffin you'd send me her address (like I asked, remememememember) then I could send some through the miracle of the post :)

RJ has told the story to his wife, some other family member and a friend, I think, so we'll get some ending.

Yeah, Harriet and Wilson and co know it. And he was writing away goodo for the past while. So it will totally get written. But it's kind of horribly sad that all the future stories (like the one about Matt and Tuon :-) )and spin-offs and the Shogun shit die with him. Pity we can't download brains when people die.

I thought the flickr thing would work out best for her since she could then choose the pics she liked the best but I forgot that despite her and her hubby being computer techies they not only aren't online but they don't even own a computer. I shit you not. Will look up the addy and send it. Might have it on my mobile orse you'll hafta wait til I get back from Sligo to find it.

Even I was shocked that he dropped Stringer. Still, not reason enough for us to be on the same side Friday… ;)

  7. Fence says:

Aye, flickr works if she can access it.

Anne, I've seen your team, I reckon we'll win.

As I'm telling everyone I'm keeping my positive, deluded, mental attitude. Nothing can stop me. Not til Fri

well, you know, after reading your comments on my blog i looked at the table the other day and suddenly it didn't look that bad… at the end of the day, they didn't lose any of those games and its all in their hands.

Exactly JP. And to be honest while they have played well below their best there have still been some nice moves that haven't quite come off. I'm thinking this is like our first half performance against France in the 06 Six Nations, as in getting hammered. But now comes the second half revival :)
