But now they are going in, intending to get through as many floors as possible without being seen, taking down Tama, the drug lord. This review is not going to

Default fox is the defaults - Image taken from page 40 of 'Travels in Africa during the years 1875-1878 (1879-1883-1882-1886) ... from The British Library

This film starts off pretty much exactly where Nightwatch finished up, there is a quick voice over recap and then we are into the action, with Anton having just lost his son to the Dark Others, Zavulon in particular. Svetlana is now in training with Anton; he spends much of his time hiding how he feels about her while she tries to show him how she feels. Of course dating the trainee is a big no-no according to Geser, especially one that will probably be such a Great Light Other.

El Laberinto del Fauno I really wanted to go see this film ever since I heard about it, and yer wan at the desk who tried to put me off by saying “you know it is in Spanish with subtitles” didn’t succeed. The story revolves around Ofelia, an 11 year old girl whose mother has married Captain Vidal and is

Default fox is the defaults - Image taken from page 40 of 'Travels in Africa during the years 1875-1878 (1879-1883-1882-1886) ... from The British Library

A thousand years ago an agreement was reached, the Light and the Dark negotiated a truce in order to prevent their mutual destruction. Each side ensures the other obeys the rules. The Night Watch are “the good guys” preventing the Dark from breaking the truce. But legend tells of the arrival of a “Great One” who will choose a side, and that side will become unstoppable.

Based on a trilogy of Russian books(by Sergei Lukyanenko) Nochnoy dozor is the first in a series of three books, and for the most part deals with Anton. Born human, he was one of the few able to see, and so become, one of the Others. Each new arrival must choose a side, Light or Dark, he chooses Light, and the film opens with him tracking down a vampire.

I’d half a huge long post written about Serenity and the fan ranting and raving and the non-fan flaming, and the Joss getting involved[1] but then I decided, nay, I don’t want to post on this. Instead I’m going to say, you know this Night Watch looks all interesting. And I’ve read they’re even making the subtitles all cool by

Set in Patagonia is this the story of an unemployed mechanic (Villegas) who is given a dog as reward for a good deed. This dog, Bombón Le Chein is a pedigree dogo, and the son of champions. He immediately gets Villegas noticed, and soon the opportunity to show the dog arises. It is a simple story, and Villegas does really

Opening with a group of young women being escorted by armed soldiers to meet Hitler, Downfall is not your average World War II film. Yes, it has guns, violence, death and soldiers, but this film tells of the last few weeks of the third reich from the perspective of those in the bunker with Hitler. For the most part we

I just bought this on dvd after seeing many good reviews of it since its release. Plus, you know werewolf film so figured for 8 quid I wasn’t really wasting any money if it was rubbish. It wasn’t. It is a great film. Very french in places, but never in a cliched manner. The film is told in flashback by

Another film that I kept meaning to rent but never got round to it, till C4 showed it tonight. I really don’t know how to describe this film. It is quirky and charming, and really you’ll have to watch it to understand the plot. Not that it is complicated, simply that trying to tell you would ruin the film imo.

I had to go see it really, I mean so much controversy how could I resist. Although after reading various reviews about how this was the most violent and shocking film ever made I was a bit doubtful about the fact that I brought food to munch on However it wasn’t half as violent as it had been out to
