Week 1 in the Ripley house

And things are going well for house-mate Ripley.

Yeah, that’s enough of that, but I do hope you were reading it in a suitable accent, that being the Geordie one. Anyway, Ripley has been with us now for 4 full days and she is settling in well. On Friday we went to the vets and she got her first round of vaccinations so she spent the afternoon and evening recovering and was then up bright and early that night to let us know the effects had worn off.

And as an anti-death penalty person I have to say that I’m quite happy hearing he isn’t with us any more. Not so sure about the pictures of the jubilant scenes outside the White House, but I guess a lot of those people were affected a lot more by the September 11 attacks

It has all those epic fantasy tropes – a once great civilisation fallen to ruin, a loner adventure – but then it undercuts that with the “talk about a guilt trip” and introduces a more real grounded feel to the story, plus a bit of humour.
