How much are dem?

8 February 2009

I’ve just upgraded my wordpress installation. Have to say I’m not too sure about this new layout thingy; but I’m sure I’ll get used to it.

It is the first weekend of this year’s Six Nations! Yay! Ireland played France in our opener in Croke Park. I was there two years ago when we lost to that last-gasp try. So I think that we all felt that we owed them one. But I don’t think too many of us were feeling all that optimistic. Course we couldn’t let the French know that, so when, on the steps of the Davin Stand I met some French fans, and was asked “what do you think your chances are” I pretended absolute confidence and told them that we would of course win. Without a doubt.

And wasn’t that a confidence that was well placed. I haven’t yet rewatched the game, and I often find that I miss a lot when there in person, so I’m not going to comment on individual performances. Although O’Gara seems much improved from his last international appearance, if not quite back to his Munster-best. It was also interesting to see that both O’Driscoll & O’Connell seem to be sharing the captain’s duties. Definitely a lot of conferring going on between the two of them.

I didn’t get to see any of the other games. Had to collect the brother from the train before the Ireland match so missed the England-Italy one. And was out and about today so missed the Wales-Scotland one. But it seems that both went pretty much as expected.

I can’t wait til the next game!
