I picked this book up on impulse. I had finished a book the day before and hadn’t yet decided what to read when lunchtime came around. I scanned the library shelves and this was the only one that seemed to appeal, mainly I think, because of the cover. It’s pretty awesome looking. I had seen […]
I know that at some point in the past I have watched Blade Runner. I do not know what version it was. I also am very aware that it has become a huge pop culture reference so that my memories of the film have most likely been altered by that fact. But I do think […]

Read for the Not just for Stormtroopers sci-fi challenge & for Carl’s Science Fiction Experience. As I mentioned in my review of Wool, the first in this series, I came across this author through a post on metafilter. He has self-published this series of books, and some others, through amazon, mainly on the kindle, and […]

When I was thinking of books to read for the myth section of Carl’s challenge I did consider the Iliad, and the Odyssey too, so when I was wandering around the library and stumbled across this book it seemed perfect. And I’m so glad I picked it up; it makes for a really good read.
Based on the comic by Steve Niles & Ben Templesmith
I’ll admit that I was a little disappointed that when IFCO’s rating came up this was only a 16. From the trailers I was hoping for a total blood and gore fest. Still, despite not making the 18s cut there was plenty of violence and a high body count. Not to mention plenty of blood. Blood every where. And then more blood.
It was past midnight when I got home Halloween night. The car lights swept across the yard. The house had been toilet-papered.
This wasn’t originally on my RIP list, but I decided to take off the John Connolly one and replace it with this. It isn’t exactly a horror, but it does fit under the category of mystery, and it starts on a Halloween night, so I reckon it fits the challenge.
