The Hobbit An Unexpected Journey poster

The hobbit : An unexpected journey [based on the book by]

I really have no idea where to start this review. I mean, there is no point in recapping the plot is there? Either you’ve read the book, or see LOTR, or heard somewhere else that “In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit” and how he went on adventures with some dwarves looking. […]

Tron: Legacy

As a person who has never seen Tron I may be the wrong person to review this film. But then again, I’m sure I’m not alone, so here goes :)

Some twenty years ago Sam Flynn’s father went to work and never came home. Since then his company has gone from strength to strength, sometimes at the expense of Kevin Flynn’s original ideals. But Sam doesn’t want to be CEO of a company, instead he doesn’t seem to work, drops out of college, and adopts a rescue dog. Oh, and plays tricks on his own company like releasing their products onto the internet for free. But one day a page comes from Flynn’s Arcade. But the phone there has been disconnected for years. Sam goes to investigate and discovers that his father has discovered how to transport himself onto “the grid” and has been trapped there ever since.

Alice in Wonderland

Ever since I saw the trailer for this with the wonderful character design I wanted to see it. Plus, Wonderland as seen through Tim Burton’s eyes! And Johnny Depp! And the fact that it is 3D. Of course with all those positives there was always the chance for expectations being far too high and the film itself being a disappointment.

This isn’t really an adaptation of Carroll’s book, instead we have a 19 year old Alice, and all the characters in Wonderland, or the Underland, are wondering if she is the right Alice, especially as she doesn’t seem to remember being there before. They need Alice to be their champion and fight the jabberwock and so defeat the Red Queen. But if she isn’t the Real Alice can she do it?

Journey to the Center of the world

If you are looking for a mindless fun flick then this is one for you. I can’t imagine anyone going in to see Journey to the Center of the Earth expecting a thoughtful piece of film making. Especially considering that the main selling point of this film is the fact that it is in 3D. But it is fun. Action sequences and the wonder that is 3d. Honestly, it is great. I loved it for that U2 concert, but in actual film it works too.
