Ardulum book one
I can’t quite remember where or why I picked this book up. I would guess I saw it mentioned on twitter and forgot to tag it so the original reason is now lost forever more. I also had absolutely no idea what it was about when I started reading it.
It is set far far into the future, in a galaxy that has been at peace for years. A peace that was imposed and is enforced by the Risalians. So when the crew of the Mercy’s Pledge emerge from a wormhole into a space battle between Risalians and an unknown opponent they know they’ve stumbled into danger.
I really enjoyed this book, its a great blend of hard and soft science fiction, the story centres on the characters but there is more than enough plot and worldbuilding to let you learn about the wider universe.
It is the first book in a series, so there is a lot more to explore and develop, but this one story certainly comes to an end. I want to know more, but if there weren’t any I would be satisfied with this as a standalone book.
