Do you remember when it was a big deal when a film came on the telly? I can remember the hype around The Fugitive, not when it was in the cinema, but its first showing on Irish television. It was a huge deal. Everyone watched it. Everyone was talking about it the next day.

How times have changed…

For those of you too young to remember this film, it was the remake of an old tv show that ran back in the 1960s. Even I’m too young to remember that!

It is your classic fridged wife sets man on dramatic path story in many ways. Dr. Richard Kimble comes home one night to find his wife has been attacked by a one armed man. He is arrested and found guilty of the murder, but escapes and becomes “the fugitive” as he attempts to track down the man responsible. He is hunted by US Marshall Gerard1 played by Jones.

It is a solid, solid bit of entertainment, even after all these years and even knowing what is to come. I haven’t watched it a long time but I still remembered a lot of the plot details, so it stuck with me.

It isn’t a life changing film, but it is a fine bit of entertainment.
