TT #29

Published by Fence under Weekly memes

Everyone loves stats. And everyone who has a blog loves learning who came a-visiting and why. So, with thanks to Statcounter I’m revealing 13 questions or queries that people wanted answers to on my site.

  1. how believable is die hard 4.0 - I’m guessing not very. Afterall, the whole premise is pretty unbelievable, never mind the fact that John McClane “kills a helicopter with a car”. Still it is entertaining. And that is more important than reality. As reality tc has taught us.
  2. name of the song from the prison break ad on rte2 - Hmm, there are two. One of them is by Arcade Fire, I can’t remember the exact title, but I think it is Intervention. The other one, which mixed different programmes together, The Sopranos, Prison Break amongst others is by The Mission UK and is called Father
  3. what book was the movie alpha dog based on - It was based on the true story of Jesse James Hollywood, and from what I know it wasn’t based on any book at all.
  4. To the person who came looking for the most violent fairy tale I really don’t know what to say. Originally they were all pretty violent, but over the years they’ve been sanitized. Red Riding Hood has a lot of violence. A granny being eaten by a wolf. A woodsman chopping open a wolf. Lot of blood there. Snow White and the Seven Dwaves likewise. Okay, so the evil queen’s henchman didn’t cut open Snow White’s chest cavity and pull out her heart, but he did do that to a deer. Anyone else want to provide some blood-soaked fairy tales?
  5. what do you wear to a baptism if you are the godmother - I asked the very same question at one stage. No definite answers. Just remember a baby will be involved to nothing to white :)
  6. To the person who wanted to see hurling and lucozade sport ad 2007 I’m sorry, but I can’t help you. I was looking at one stage and couldn’t find it either. There are plenty of other GAA ads on YouTube though.
  7. brent pope rugby bio - Well, there is a bit here and a little bit more here, but if you’re looking for a whole book I can’t see one. He does write children’s books though
  8. ‘jack rackham’ pre-pirate - Try wikipedia
  9. song words little musgrave - planxty - Well, you can Listen here. And read here. Planxty are mighty altogether :) aren’t they?
  10. Gene Hunt huntisms - I have a collection here, but you might also want to take a look here as well
  11. what is idris elba im address - now what sort of a question is that? Do you know him? Well then ask him, otherwise leave him alone. I’m sure he has an agent you can contact. Try IMDb
  12. cheyenne, matrilineal society - Now this is a controversial topic. Cause yes, they were matrilineal, in that the family name went through the mothers. Stands to reason really. Only women can be sure that a child is in fact theirs. Or at least according to some anthropologists. Others say not. Try looking for articles and research in your local library. Or Google Scholar might be a good place to start.
  13. rugby - you really need to be a little more specific in your searches.

No referral fun

Published by Fence under Irishify, Ramblings

Tá fhíos agat that looking at your stats and referral logs is fun fun fun. All those wacky phrases and meaningless search strings. Bhuel, féach, tá siad lacking in the fun department today..

  • A search for Carlo Gebler the bull raid - fits, because I reviewed the book. Unimpressed with it, so I was.
  • A search for Gene Hunt quotes - fits again. Because is é Gene Hunt an fear, and we has a great grá for him.
  • a search for attia of the julii - When is Rome coming back?
  • a search for surrounded armed bastards - this’d be Mr. Hunt again. An fear is fearr[1] ;)

The only one that makes me even vaguely go “hmmmm” is the search for sally sue with white lace, and that arrives here on account of a quote from Stephenie Meyer’s New Moon.

Aréir, chuaigh mé to see Julius Caesar in the Abbey. Twas grand, dragged a bit at times, but overall a grand night’s entertainment. The set design was great, the costume design, not so much.

I think I’d better leave right now

Published by Fence under Sport, Webby stuff

Strange thing happened when I was looking at the web stats today. It appears that someone got here by searching using the term koenigshklkoenigshklhafkljablerker. Yes, that’d be the made up word I used to describe the car on Top Gear on Sunday. Well, it made me smile.

Last night saw Roy Keane’s testimonial. He played for both Man U and for Celtic[1] But you know what was weird? Seeing him smile so much. I mean, Roy Keane, smiling while playing football. What’s going on there?

Image Hosted by ImageShack.usWas nice to see the huge turnout though, he deserved it. Whatever you say about him personally, you can’t deny that he was a great servant to Man U for 12 years, and was one of the greatest footballers they ever had. Maybe not in terms of talent and skill, but in terms of loyalty, drive, ambition and commitment.

I didn’t watch all the match, was switching between it and the rugby on Setanta. Munster lost to Llanelli[2] but they weren’t exactly fielding their best team. Saving them for the big show down in Cardiff. Which reminds me, it is ten days to go until that match, so I’ll be switching themes later tonight and going red for Munster.

I did have something else to say, but I can’t remember what it was, so I may be back later on. Than again, maybe it wasn’t important so I mightn’t. Who knows.

Linknotes:
  1. Man U won, 1-nil, big surprise
  2. not sure about that spelling

Aren’t you glad its Friday? I know I am. And not just because it means no work tomorrow, but because it is never as busy at work on a Friday. You’d think today’d be different. I mean, exams start on Tues so all this week we’ve been very busy. But not too many today. We’re still busier than a normal Friday, but so far there has been considerably less people than yesterday. Wonder how busy we’ll be on Monday?

Published by Fence under Webby stuff

I know I shouldn’t poke fun at people. Maybe they have good reason for their actions, but OMG! Took a look at my web stats, and found out that some lovely Yahoo users got here by entering the following

videos showing naked woman(who have all body parts showing.nothing blocked out)th
at you don’t have to pay money for
