Feels like its been ages since I wrote anything for this thingymeblog.
And this isn’t much of an entry either, just a quick note to say that I’m off home tomorrow, not sure when I’ll be online after Christmas, d’internet is far to slow in Sligo to make it likely that I’ll be posting from there. So while I’m gone have a Merry Christmas and a happy new year and all that sorta stuff.

I’ve been out doing the last of the present buying this morning. Back by two which great as it meant I missed the huge ginormous crowds. Course then B#5 rang to say that he couldn’t pick up the present we were getting for the gasur, so I had to head back into town and pick it up.
And then remembering that I had no wrapping paper I grabbed some in Penney’s[1] but I was in a rush and and didn’t look to closely. And guess what… yeah, I bought Birthday wrapping paper instead of xmas stuff. Don’t think I’ll bother to get proper christmas stuff though, just couldn’t be arsed and sure it all goes in the bin by the end of the day anyways.

Did you know that it is less than a month till xmas? Did ya?[1] That’s still a long time though, so you won’t find me adding to the “BUY NOW” mentality that seems to be swarming all over the place. Though if you are looking for amber lights for your tree, well I’m afraid they’ve all been used
I have ideas for presents, but no actual presents. When I was home the lil sister had made a start on her cards. She 10[2] and already she has her christmas cards. In November! And not even the last week in November[3] What is the world coming to.
This time last year I was laughing at Niall Quinn, Eamonn Dunphy and Roy Keane[4] but this year they’ve made friends and are working together. Keane has even made friends with McCarthy. What is the world coming to when we can’t get our entertainment from footballing spats? What am I supposed to laugh at now?
The evilness of students who continue to chat[5] despite being asked, again and again to shut the hell up? Still, their exams start next week so I’m laughing, or even laffin at them.
Oh, that reminds me, I need ten great, fantastic, fantabulous, superb, *insert superlative descriptor of your own here* songs from 2006 for a mix cd thingy we’re doing at work. All by different artists, suggestions will be welcomed[6] in the comments section.
And seeing as I’m rambling about a variety of topics with no linkage whatsoever between the various subject; has anyone seen Pan’s Labyrinth yet? If not, off you go and watch it. If yes, isn’t it great? I hadn’t intended to go yesterday, but then I spotted a quick mention of it over at Fatmammycat’s and so wandered in[7] Tis great.[8] Bloody and violent and whimsical and fantastical and just plain great. An-mhaith ar fad.

Yesterday I had to travel all the way to Phibsboro[1] to collect a package. See, many many moons ago Kelly had sent a parcel. But it never arrived, so I’d sorta given up. But then on Friday there was a letter in the postbox saying “package in delivery office. On yer bike and collect it.” But of course An Post[2] Delivery Offices are only open during regular working hours, when, you know, most people are working. And not at the weekend, which meant I couldn’t go on Sat. So Mon afternoon I got off work earlier and hopped on the bus set off on the expedition to Phibsboro. Eventually I arrived and went in to collect the package.
And I wasn’t alone, two fellas left just as I arrived. There was a garda wandering around waiting, and after I handed in my little deliver note a fake-Elvis turned up. Seriously. I’m not sure if he was an actual impersonator, or just like the King’s style. But he had the hair, and the dress sense[3] of Elvis, plus this huge eagle on his belt buckle. He was great.
While I was waiting I also spotted this lovely message that someone had scribbled on the wall[4] If you can’t make it out it says “Hello Welcome I hope you get something nice in your packet. Me too!” And I can’t remember/read the final line. Guess I should have checked the image on the phone. But the An Post man arrived with the giant box from America so I had to put the phone away and show him my id.
Anyways, seems that one of the reasons it took so long was that customs decided to inspect in, and it was resealed with official “opened by customs” tape. But everything was safe and sound. Which reminds me, NM next time I see you remember to bring my PS unregionafier disc thing so I can watch Oh Brother Where Art Thou
In other news I’m considering downloading and installing itunes. Just because according to Ian Dempsey they stick a few of their Gift Grub things on there. And this week they’ve a special Munster rugby feature. Why they don’t have just an mp3 version which doesn’t require special software I don’t know. Maybe they do, anyone know?

- shush, none of the foreigners’ll know that it is only one short bus ride away from my work, let’s make it sound like a trek to a different country ↩
- which is Irish, so gets pronounced on pust ↩
- toned down. Not Vegas Elvis ↩
- It is strange, this is the second piece of positive grafitti I’ve spotted recently. The other being something to do with how life is great and the writer would like to be able to live 2wice - his spelling not mine ↩
