Bronntanas Bia

Published by Fence under Ramblings

Yesterday I had to travel all the way to Phibsboro[1] to collect a package. See, many many moons ago Kelly had sent a parcel. But it never arrived, so I’d sorta given up. But then on Friday there was a letter in the postbox saying “package in delivery office. On yer bike and collect it.” But of course An Post[2] Delivery Offices are only open during regular working hours, when, you know, most people are working. And not at the weekend, which meant I couldn’t go on Sat. So Mon afternoon I got off work earlier and hopped on the bus set off on the expedition to Phibsboro. Eventually I arrived and went in to collect the package.

And I wasn’t alone, two fellas left just as I arrived. There was a garda wandering around waiting, and after I handed in my little deliver note a fake-Elvis turned up. Seriously. I’m not sure if he was an actual impersonator, or just like the King’s style. But he had the hair, and the dress sense[3] of Elvis, plus this huge eagle on his belt buckle. He was great.

picture136.jpgWhile I was waiting I also spotted this lovely message that someone had scribbled on the wall[4] If you can’t make it out it says “Hello Welcome I hope you get something nice in your packet. Me too!” And I can’t remember/read the final line. Guess I should have checked the image on the phone. But the An Post man arrived with the giant box from America so I had to put the phone away and show him my id.

Anyways, seems that one of the reasons it took so long was that customs decided to inspect in, and it was resealed with official “opened by customs” tape. But everything was safe and sound. Which reminds me, NM next time I see you remember to bring my PS unregionafier disc thing so I can watch Oh Brother Where Art Thou

In other news I’m considering downloading and installing itunes. Just because according to Ian Dempsey they stick a few of their Gift Grub things on there. And this week they’ve a special Munster rugby feature. Why they don’t have just an mp3 version which doesn’t require special software I don’t know. Maybe they do, anyone know?

Linknotes:
  1. shush, none of the foreigners’ll know that it is only one short bus ride away from my work, let’s make it sound like a trek to a different country
  2. which is Irish, so gets pronounced on pust
  3. toned down. Not Vegas Elvis
  4. It is strange, this is the second piece of positive grafitti I’ve spotted recently. The other being something to do with how life is great and the writer would like to be able to live 2wice - his spelling not mine
