*Auto post no 2* The World Cup is almost here. Football is going to dominate all the newspapers and tv coverage. The whole world will go football crazy. Well, parts of it will. We didn’t qualify. So instead of looking at our prospects I’m going to look back at “The Saipan Incident” of 2002. Because […]
Pelé Franz Beckenbauer Giorgio Chinaglia Carlos Alberto Rodney Marsh In the late 70’s and early 80’s there was an attempt made to launch football in the United States of America. Ultimately, it failed, but for a few years the New York Cosmos, a team owned by Warner, fielded some of the world’s greatest football players […]
They are drilling for oil out the back at work. Or round the side, depending on where I am. Direction is relative after all. It is a little annoying, but don’t worry, I’ll struggle through somehow I’ll cope. Don’t you worry about me. Worry about poor old Arsenal instead But it was a very good […]
Strange thing happened when I was looking at the web stats today. It appears that someone got here by searching using the term koenigshklkoenigshklhafkljablerker. Yes, that’d be the made up word I used to describe the car on Top Gear on Sunday. Well, it made me smile. Last night saw Roy Keane’s testimonial. He played […]
Sometimes the internet really really sucks. First off gmail has been acting as fickle as a French rugby fan which means that it is so frustrating trying to check email. And then I get to work today and one second the server is up. the next it is down. I kinda wish it’d just go […]
Holy crapola. They’ve gone and fired Roy Keane! Man Utd must be mad. i know he isn’t as great a player as he used to be, and certain comments he makes might not be exactly tactful. But lets face it Man U aren’t really doing all the well at the moment, they don’t have a […]
Good thing I was fairly accepting of our not going to Germany before hand wasn’t it? We didn’t lose. So I suppose it wasn’t a total disaster. But in reality it was. Not quite so dire as against Cyprus, but still crap. I know, all Switzerland has to do was defend, but exactly how many […]
Well we won. But it was more of a moral victory for Cyprus than it was for us. The team played crap. Once we scored the only goal of the game we just faffed about for the rest of the match. And seeing as we scored in the sixth minute that was a hell of […]
- Just so you know, this film is called Hooligans, Green Street Hooligans and Green Street depending on where you are.
Football has never really had a good film made about it, not that I’ve seen anyway. I mean most people enjoy that Christmas favourite Escape to Victory, but despite having Pele, the football isn’t really that good. Is Green Street any better? Football-wise, I’d have to say yes. But this film isn’t really about football at all. It is about the West Ham firm, the GSE (Green Street Elite), and football fans’ violence and how this all appears to an outsider.
Armed dolphins, trained by the US military to shoot terrorists and pinpoint spies underwater, may be missing in the Gulf of Mexico.
Experts who have studied the US navy’s cetacean training exercises claim the 36 mammals could be carrying ‘toxic dart’ guns. Divers and surfers risk attack, they claim, from a species considered to be among the planet’s smartest. The US navy admits it has been training dolphins for military purposes, but has refused to confirm that any are missing
The build-up to this week’s football has begun. Ireland v France. Of course we will win :) And in order to help our team the journalists are already calling us the underdogs, because the Irish team simply cannot win a match that, on paper, they should easily walk away with. Although, obviously enough, this is […]
The new world rankings are up on FIFA’s site. SO the question that must be raised is “You are kidding right?” Any football ranking system that puts the USA at number 6 must be seriously flawed. No offense US-ian peoples, but you don’t really do football now do you? In any serious match between […]
