Woke up to a hidjis morning today. Gale force winds kept trying to break into my room through the window, aided and abetted by lashing rain, and it was 5 o’clock. Luckily I fell back to sleep fairly quickly. I did get up a little earlier than usual, on account of the rugby tickets for the England match going on sale at 8.00am through a special secret part of the ticketmaster site. So I logged on at 10 to 8 and hit refresh a few times, until, just before 8 I was able to try and buy a ticket. But no luck whatsoever. Kept coming up with a lovely “no tickets available” message. Tried again when I got to work, jic, but still no luck. Just checked the site and they are all sold out.
Ah well, I still have my France ticket so I’m not bovvered.
The 2007 Irish Blog Award Nominations are now open. Must go check out the categories and see about nominees.
Right, I’m off to mess about with the template over at Susan hated Literature, but when I finish I’m planning[1] on doing my favourite films of 2006. Cause lists are what makes the internet so great.

Nuair a scrÃobh mé the post about Seachtain na gaeilge, I used the abbr tag so the non-irish could translate, ach rinne mé dearmad that Internet Explorer doesn’t display that tag correctly. So you all didn’t get a translation. Anyways, I’ve since edited that post, and am using the span tag instead, so nuair a feicidh tú a couple of words in glas, then place your mouse over them and you should get a translation. If it doesn’t work, let me know, and I’ll use the footnotes instead.
Right, new business. Remember the blog awards? Well, by all accounts[1] they were a great success, the list of winners can be seen here, and no, I’m not there[2] All the reports indicate that a good night was had by all, so if they are on again next year I’ll probably head along. Congrats to all the winners/nominees/participants and especially to the organizer, Damien Mulley
Now the most important aspect of the weekend was, of course, the rugby. Agus, bhuaidaidh na fhrancach against England. This is good, in that it is hard not to feel sásta when England lose, especially when they are utterly destroyed. Ach bhà dóchas orm that it’d be a draw, because then Ireland would’ve been top of the table. As it stands now France and Ireland are equal on points, but because France have scored more in their matches they are on top. So unless we beat England by a huge amount of points we really need Wales to win next Saturday.
And, finally, before I forget, it is week 162 and Luna Nina says:

Thank god it’s Friday.
Got definite news on the library move yesterday. Well, definite in that we confirmed the fact that the library will be moving[1] in early August. Where to remains to be answered, although at the moment it looks likely that we will be staying “in the area”. I’m being told that in two weeks they should have a decision made about where it is, that it is, that we are moving to.
The Irish Blog Awards are on this weekend, Sat around 7.00. I’m not going, cause I am lazy, but I hope all those who do attend blog about it so we can get the sca second hand. There will be wireless there, so maybe some blogger will put up the results as they happen?
And congrats to Damien for all the organisation.

Damien Mulley has opened the nomination process, for those of you who remember that post way back in the mists of time.
Rome finished yesterday. What am I supposed to do every Wed at nine now? No more Chicken or Lamb, no more Anto and Julius Caesar
I think this is the reason soaps are so popular, they never end so you get to meet you fav characters several times a week. Course, there aren’t any character even one tenth as interesting as Posca’s nose on the soaps, but still…
Sorry, got distracted by imaging what a soap written by Joss Whedon would be like.
Listening to radio today and Ray and friends are discussing vegetarians. Back before Christmas Mairéad mentioned that she didn’t understand vegetarians. That she thought they were weird, and she could never do without meat. And people are texting in to complain now[1] that eating meat is killing innocent animals.
I’m all for animals having happy lives, but I like’s my meat. Nothing like a roast chicken. And sometimes all you want is a big hunk of cow. Mmmm, maybe I’ll buy some steak for dinner tonight, haven’t had any in ages.
Yum yum, pig’s bum,
cabbage and potato
Imagine life without rashers?
I do, however try to buy organic meat, when I can afford it. After all, who really wants to eat intensively reared chickens.
