#14 in the Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter verse

It was the middle of November. I was supposed to be out jogging, but instead I was sitting at my breakfast table talking about men, sex, werewolves, vampires, and that thing that most unmarried but sexual active women fear most of all - a missed period.
It all went downhill so quickly in this series. The first few books were good solid entertainment. Plenty of action and fairly decent characters. But now they are all merely vehicles for Anita to have sex with as many people as she can. And to top it all they are badly written as well. Thank god I got this one from the library and didn’t shell out actual cash for it.

- Nathan Fillion - Abe Dale
- Katee Sackhoff- Sherry Clarke
Okay, so I wouldn’t have gone to this film at all if it hadn’t been for the fact that Nathan Fillion was in it. I hadn’t seen the first White Noise film so why would I go see the sequel.
I didn’t have a horrible time, but if I had paid I would’ve been a little annoyed, because this was a crap film. Maybe twenty minutes into it a group of lads left our screening, and as they walked out one called over his shoulder “This is a shite film!” At that stage I was still giving it the benefit of the doubt, clearly I should have listened, because it was a shite film.
Not that I expected greatness from a film about a man who tries to commit suicide after his wife and son are murdered and leaves his suicide note on his answering machine so that when his best friend calls he is in plenty of time to save him. Lack of organisation and forward planning there Abe.
Let’s see, what else happens in the film? To be honest not a lot, it isn’t even scary. One or two moments when the music cues are so overpowering that you have to give in, but for the most part total and utter pants. And the ending! I’m not even going to bother explaining how pointless and crap it was. Let alone the fact that it make no sense, then again, not much in this film made sense, so at least it was consistent.
In conclusion: Bleurgh, it isn’t even bad enough to laugh at.

- Heath Ledger …. Casanova
- Sienna Miller …. Francesca Bruni
- Jeremy Irons …. Pucci
- Oliver Platt …. Paprizzio
This is a terrible film. Terrible.
And the really annoying thing is that it has virtually no redeeming qualities. Yes Heath can be nice to look at, but his “phwoar” manner of speaking here is totally off-putting.
The basic plot involves Casanove being chased by the Inquisition for his various conquests and libertine lifestyle. The Doge does his best to protect him, but says that if it doesn’t arrange a marriage to a respectable young woman he will exile him from Venice. Casanova doesn’t want to leave Venice, he is waiting for his mother to return. She left him when he was but a child in order to persue her life as an actress.
So Casanova decides to marry, only after he has become engaged to Victoria he falls in love with Francesa Bruni. But alas, Francesca has been bethrothed since childhood, to a man she has never met, Paprizzio a lard merchant from Genoa. Cue a fun-filled, hilarious romp through the canals of Venice in a story of love and mistaken identity.
Well, that may have been the intent, but it didn’t succeed. Instead we get a collection of badly performed pratfalls. Did you know that people falling over is just the funniest thing ever? And do you know what makes it even funnier, when it is fat people who fall over.Yup. That is the calibre of this film. People falling over. And it aint funny. Not the first time, not the 50th time, not even the last time when Jeremy Irons tips backwards[1]
Predictable. Lacking humour. Lacking romance. Lacking action. this film doesn’t exactly live up to its IMDb genres now does it? Even the costumes aren’t fantastic enough to distract your attention. One to avoid.

Sometimes directors really make you think, make you stop and consider their work, make you want to never ever see anything in the cinema ever again because they have killed any desire you might have felt for moving pictures. Wright has almost managed to do this.

This doesn’t even deserve the title of film. A film has a story, a plot, characters! It entertains. This, this monster is just plain boring. Worst film ever! Yes, I’ve seen The Avengers, and The Pacifier. This thing is worse than anything I’ve seen
Not even the car chases were entertaining. Piece of crap.
No more needs to be said.

Have no real idea why I bothered to buy this book. I picked it up, read the blurb and knew it wouldn’t be good. After all on the front cover is an extract from a Locus review:
A historical romance, a Dickensian chronicle, of the American West, and a brutally violent werewolf epic… Moon Dance is simply one of the finest fantasy novels of the year
