Okay, can some one kindly tell me where this last year has gone? Cause look, it is time for this year’s RIP Challenge. Decisions decisions. But I think I’ll go with the first peril, reading any four books from any subgenre of scary-ness. I just got to go find them now. I think that The Host by Stephenie Meyer qualifies, so that’ll be one. And I’ll have to take a gander through the tbr pile to see if any of those fit. And then probably a trip to Chapters and book buying. But its all good, I haven’t been there in at least 2 months, I’ve been very good about not buying books. I think it is time for a splurge.
I haven’t quite managed to keep up with the two proper blogs a week that I mentioned a while back. But you know, intentions are worth just as much as deeds, right?
Yeah, okay, so thats a lie. But you just gotta deal.
Spent most of Sat. watching the telly. Well, I say telly, I mean dvds. And I know that I’ve mentioned this before, but I just love Rocky Balboa. It is just brilliant. Full of cliché and sentimental shots, but it just works. Rocky just works. Still have to watch the commentary, that’ll be fun.
I’ve been doing a fair bit of rewatching stuff lately. Over the past few weeks I’ve been rewatching Firefly. Its been a while. Don’t think I’ve seen any of those episodes since the film[1] came out. And that was years ago[2] It is so great. Every time we’re about to watch a new episode I say “oh this is a great one” or “I love this one”. We just got up to Out of Gas last week. Awww. Watching them all get together and seeing Mal fall in love with the ship.
Oh, and while I’m moaning about time flying, when did it get to be the end of August? For those of you not in Ireland, well, maybe you lot got a summer. Us, we got rain. Followed by more rain. Followed by some more.
So where was our summer? huh? Life is so unfair sometimes…

Yeah, that’s right, it is time for the return of The X Factor. I do love this show. I also hate it. Telly and I have a complex relationship. Just deal with it.
And this year we have a new judge, Cheryl somewan or other. From Girls Aloud, so the interwebs reveal. ooohhhh. Colour me impressed!
And the show starts off with a totally ott arrival of the four judges. In FOUR different helicopter. Won’t some one think of the environment. And of course references to whatsherface, you know, yer wan what sang about her bleedin heart. Leona. And yes, before you start, I pay no attention to these shows once we get past the point and laugh stage. Which is mean and nasty and bitchy. But oh so much fun.
I do feel sorry for a lot of these people. So called contenders that really can’t sing. Have they never heard themselves sing? Has no one ever said “don’t go on the telly singing, because while you’re grand at the karaoke, you aren’t good enough to go in front of Mr. Brutal”. I guess if they all listened to that then the likes of The X Factor wouldn’t be so popular.
I’m really enjoying Cheryl’s reactions. She seems so horrified that the auditions are so terrible. She was expecting a higher standard. ha! Has she never watched the show?

Do you know that I have watched no real telly so far this week. Okay, so I spent the long weekend watching nothing but House season one. But that was on dvd, so it doesn’t count. Apart from that I’ve watched the finale of this season’s Lost and the season finale of Bones and thats it.
And to be honest I was impressed by neither. Meh to both I say.
I did catch 5 seconds of Rome repeats on Discovery last night. I miss good telly
Even Medium is repeats now. I can tell, Alison has long long hair. le sigh Nothing to watch.

Desperate Housewives made it back onto our screens last night. RTE even showed a special “catch-up” episode beforehand. Just in case any of us had forgotten the crazy wackiness that goes on on Wisteria Lane.
And so I would just like to say that I hate and despise Susan Mayer. She is just so pathetic and crap at everything. Even her “kookiness” is pathetic.
Not that I really like any of the characters. But her, her I hate and despise. Do I need to say that again, cause I can repeat myself endlessly. Caught in a loop like whathisface from the Shining.

EDITED to add, OMG!!! WTF! I totally forgot all about the Late Late Toy Show. Jayzis!!! I’m distraught at missing it. Distraught!
9.45 - Pat has just kicked a lifelike baby doll up the hole to the plaintive cry of a little girl who pleaded “don’t kick the baby.
I watched two episodes of My So-Called Life over the weekend. Initial thought[1] ; OMG! Look at the clothes! And where are all the tanned people? Seriously it could be a British or Irish show everyone is so pale.
But it is good stuff.
I love how Angela is in some ways a cow. She does just dump her best friend for no reason; but at the same time she is right to dump her. The whole getting to know who you are angst is wonderful. Of course my enjoyment is made more by the fact that I know that no one ever really knows who they are, and that society is us all being different people depending on the situations we are in. That whole masks we wear cliché.
Teen angst. You just gotta love it. Unless you are on the receiving end of course.
And I love the fact that Angela’s parents are real people; especially Angela’s mother. I didn’t remember that. Her stressing over the fact that she thinks Angela loves her dad more. Her annoyance at always having to be the bad guy. Great stuff.

I’ve been going through my old posts, adding tags[1] and I’ve noticed that I’m a lot less rambly than I used to be. Most of my posts now have a reason. Some even make half sense. I’m not quite sure when this began, but really, it must be stopped. The whole situation is abominable and must be stopped.
Which of course, leads to question, can I go back to those “good old days”?
And the answer: well, I just don’t know, we’ll have to wait find out.
In other news, I’ve started watching The Young Riders on Channel Six. Awww. nostalgia how are you.
I used to watch this many many many years ago when it was on RTE. It is crap. But still. And look, dvd release!!
Six are up to episode 7 but I’ve only watched 2 and a half. And I loves it. Mainly for Josh Brolin. Cause I loves him[2] Plus cowboys are cool. Nuff said

No Such Thing as Vampires
Dir: Rod Holcomb
Writ: David Greenwalt, Ron Koslow, & Trevor Munson
- Alex O’Loughlin … Mick St. John
- Sophia Myles … Beth Turner
- Jason Dohring … Josef Konstantin
- Shannyn Sossamon … Coraline
- James Black … Lt. Carl Davis
- Shoshana Bush … Chloe
- James Black … Lt. Carl Davis
Look, this is a new series with a vampire detective, so I hereby promise that there will be many and varied references to how much I miss Angel[1] but it does have Jason Dohring, so I’m keeping an open mind. As always with my telly recaps, beware of spoilers, cause they won’t be hidden.
