waves hello

28 March 2020

We’re coming near the end of March. The end of the first quarter of 2020 and I haven’t said a thing here in an age.

A lot has happened, to be fair.

In Sept 2019 I had a job change, same organisation different location. And then in Jan of this year I was moved again, with a temporary promotion, and a lot more work. So kept busy.

And then of course there is the Corona pandemic.
At work we shut our doors to the public two weeks ago, but we’ve still been there behind closed doors working away. I’d argue we should have been sent home but I don’t get to make those sorts of decisions.

Last night Leo made his statement regarding Ireland’s lockdown1 and so now we’re all wondering what exactly an essential service is. I mean, I don’t think anyone is arguing that a public library is essential at the moment, the problem is as an employee of the local government are they going to reassign us. To be honest, if that is what happens, fair enough, I’d be glad to help out. But I really hope they don’t just call us all in to work in order to have us on standby, which is what the last week felt like.

We’re expecting some communication tomorrow.

Hope you all are keeping safe wherever you are and staying at least 2m apart.

Hello!! We’re not in full lockdown yet, but are being instructed to stay home as much as possible. My work has now said that they want us to work from home fully from this week.
