The Illiad is one of those books pretty much everyone has heard of, and most have an idea of the storyline, but not as many have actually read it. I did read it at some point, but at college we looked at The Odyssey and not this one
Still, I’ve seen Troy so that means I’m all good, right? I kid, I kid, although I do have a bit of an interest in rewatching that film now…
I really enjoyed this book, it is so readable and understandable, even though I’m not very familiar with the poem it is discussing I never felt lost.
However, because of my lack of knowledge about the Illiad I cannot really comment on her commentary or understanding of events and characters. It all makes sense in her argument, but I don’t have the knowledge to argue against any of it.
