After being coerced into working for a crime boss, a young getaway driver finds himself taking part in a heist doomed to fail. (IMDb)
Starting off with a bank job and car chase through the city, the action never stops in this film. And neither does the music. It has a fantastic soundtrack.
It also has humour and great action scenes. I should’ve loved it.
Unfortunately it took me a fair while to get into it. The main character, Baby, I just couldn’t relate to him at first. He seemed a total blank of a character. He does gradually get more motivation and he makes decisions, but he was too much of a blank slate for too long at the start.
Maybe even a little boring…
Don’t get me wrong, I did enjoy the film. It looks great and it sounds great. And I did appreciate the tinnitus sound effects. But the plot itself was quite ordinary, and I didn’t buy a lot of the characters. And I need to invest in the characters if I am to love a film.
