Shedding my shirt, my book, my life Leaving them, empty husks and fallen leaves Going in search of food and for a spring Of sweet water.
–Neil Gaiman - Going Wodwo
Beware of spoilers. Discussion welcome.
Okay, this is one of those posts where I may type and type and yet say nothing, because I’m really unsure of what I want to say. I guess I don’t like it all that much. I can sort of appreciate the feeling behind the poem, the desire to escape. To get away from all life’s worries and cares and “return to nature”. To live in simplicity.
But then again, Going Wodwo seems well aware that this is not all it is cracked up to be. Living a so-called simple life is hard and difficult and you are very likely to fail.
But what do I know about poetry?
