There is an interesting couple of videos up looking at strangers’ reactions to women who appear as though they are suffering from domestic violence. And the difference that the clothes/appearance of the woman seems to make to whether people are willing to get involved or not.

@tedcruzmilfporn @vmax_14 @gardainfo Much better to buy a book they object to and donate to your local library. You get to support the author, the message, and anyone who wants to read it
RT @vmax_14 Just some Christofascist clowns filming themselves ripping up books they don't like in the library now. ....hope Ross Lahive & fellow vandals are charged with criminal damage & barred from all libraries. #librarytwitter 👀 #ireland #homophobia @gardainfo ??? pic.twitter.com/dj0dza6T7C
@HSELive Any idea of queue in Moate/Westmeath centre

Jesus. I really want to think that i would call the police, and if the guy left, i would go to the woman. I don't think i'd have the guts to intervene directly if he was there. But maybe i would just sit there, afraid for her and me, and ashamed of myself.
It is one of those situations that I think you'd have to be in before knowing how you'd react. Because you don't want to make the situation worse. I think the ABC show was quite harsh on people, considering that quite a few asked the waitress/manager to call the police about it.
I saw those linked on feministing. It's both horrifying and so upsetting to see what people saw and do. I was so touched by the fact that some people did act though.
Isn't it? Both upsetting and touching. I think at the most I'd end up calling the police in that sort of a scenario. Plus the whole "bystander" affect probably didn't encourage people to interfere.
