Guess what? My voice is back, yay! Not totally, I’m still a little hoarse[1] but I can talk. Celebrate good times etc.

Also the new Estella’s Revenge is out, off you pop to take a peak.

I’m about halfway through the second season of The Wire and it is sooo worth watching. Everyone says so, but more importantly, I say so. But if you don’t believe me[2] then here are 9 reasons why you are wrong, and I am right. Just look at all those As. So, with a helpful nudge, I’m directing you to check out The Wire.

On the face of it, it’s a show about police and drug dealers in contemporary Baltimore – but that’s a woefully simplistic description. Stick with it, and by the time you get to season four you’ll realise that when co-creator David Simon describes it as a “treatise on the death of America”, it’s not empty hyperbole. By some margin, this is the most ambitious, complex drama serial ever created.

Course I haven’t gotten to season 4 yet. But I will. In one way I want to watch them all straight through[3] but I’ve learned my lesson from Firefly, patience can bring rewards. Honestly. Not racing through them means that they’ll last longer and I’ll have new episodes to look forward to for longer. I’ve heard that season 5 will be the last. So I only have three seasons left to go.

Linknotes:

  1. lets not make with the bad pony joke
  2. Im hurt by your non-belief, hurt, a little angry
  3. three episodes last night

I'm only three or four eps into The Wire but I quite like it. It's very good. The only problem I have is that I don't really like any of the characters as people, except the crack addict snitch guy :-) Although the others may grow on me as time goes on. We shall see.

I am thinking in celebration of your voice returning you should get a pint!

H it is one that grows better the more you watch. I know what you mean about not having any characters to like, but as you get to know them you get to like them better, because although they are flawed they all have little hooks of their own.

Bubbles is a great character. But Omar (I'm not sure if you've met him yet) is another that I like to watch. Don't think I'd like to meet him though :)

Sally, you're terrible you are. 'Sides, tonight is football night, so no drinking. We're all too tired by the end of the match to do anything but go home :)

[…] I’ve said before, I do love this show, and if anything think that season 2 is better than season 1. Or maybe […]
