Inscriptions
You may not have noticed, but I’ve updated the blogroll[1] a little and one of my favourite new sites is The Book Inscriptions Project. It does exactly what it says on the tin, it lists book inscriptions, like this:
“Miss E. Frances
With my dear love.
It is forbidden to laugh
at Royalty.A 1935 copy of Victoria Regina: A Dramatic Biography by Laurence Housman.
- yes I have noticed that I have listed at least one blog twice, I will get around to editing it in a year or so ↩

That is pretty neat. I’ve always wondered about what happens to books that have inscriptions, and where they came from etc.
Well, that’s just lovely! One of the great joys of second-hand books.
My dad used to draw pictures in his books - swastikas in his Biggles-versus-the-evil-Germans books and once a song he wrote about Ace Carew, heroic pilot-type. And spiders with hairy legs.
