Dearly beloved

We are gathered here today… hang on that’s the wrong one. Becuase I’m here not to marry Frank the Goldfish, but to flush him.

Yes, Frank the fish is no more. He may never have been mentioned on the blog before, but he has sat on the mantlepiece for a while now. Well, when I say sat I do of course mean swam, and in his bowl. But no more. He stopped swimming and merely floated, so he has gone on to the great toilet bowl in the sky.

In other news scifi have just shown episode 11 of Heroes which means that I’m going to be seeing new episodes again. Yay. I think we’ve pretty much decided to watch Lost on Sky on a Sunday as otherwise it clashes and we can’t record SciFi. Or at least, if we can, we haven’t figured out how to do it yet. Possibly in the future we may bother to try, but at the moment it is all good. ‘Sides, Lost still sucks so we wouldn’t be missing much by missing it.

  1. Deepest sympathies on your loss. You seem to be coping well.

Everyone’s been saying Lost is losing appeal. (Ha ha, Lost is losing.) I’ve never seen either show myself, I’ve really got to get me some cable.

  3. Frank died? And I was just going to visit this week!

    Ah. :-(

Poor Frank. He was always so pleased when I came over to say hi and give him some food.

I blame your flatmate – don’t think he ever fully recovered from that time she dropped him headfirst onto the tiled bathroom floor.

RIP Frank. Did you actually flush him or just chuck him in the bin?

  4. He didn’t get dropped on the floor, but onto the sink when his tank was being cleaned. Don’t know if he was flushed or bagged as it happened over the weekend.

  5. Sink, floor, whatever. The point is, major head injuries and he died less than a year and a day later.

    sssss….murdererrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr………..

  6. Bon voyage, Frankie! I hope you don’t fun into any alligators in the sewer system on your way to the fish afterlife.

  9. Yeah, the sewer. :-D

Is your flatmate going to get a new goldfish to fill the void?

It’s a pity your old fishtank is so small – I would have put my name down to take it off your hands so my remote-control shark could live in it.

  10. You’re only up to episode 11? Number 19 was shown in the US last night and is being downloaded as we speak!

  11. I was really upset when my 8 year old goldfish developed a disease and couldn’t swim – he just lay on his side and I had to buy sinking pellets and poke them into his mouth to feed him. The sad thing was he still had an appetite so wanted to live but he couldn’t swim. The guy at the pet shop recommended sticking him in a bag of water and putting him in the freezer, which sent him to a cold fishy heaven.

  13. H there is a huge difference between sink and tiles. HUGE!

Ya’ll’ll be glad to hear that Frank didn’t get flushed after all. I asked the flatmate and she said that her boyfriend took him to a golf course with a stream where he can float away to his little fishy heart’s content.

Alan I grew bored of the whole downloading lark. The breaks that American tv takes bugs the crap out of me so I prefer to wait until the whole show can be seen in a row.

  14. Ah, that’s nice. Although I bet he just said that and actually just chucked him in the corpo bin as he walked down the street.

  15. May I extend my sincerest condolences to you and any fish you may have left! Being left to float down a stream is a nice way to go. Especially on a golf course. Wonder if I could arrange that for when I’m dropped on the bathroom tiles, I mean sink!!

  16. Nah, he suggested it. The flatmate was just going to flush him, but the boyfriend didn’t think that was nice. He suggested the Liffey first, but upon reflected thought that that might be worse than the sewers :)

  17. Aw. So he isn’t the callous bollocks/bollix he occasionally seemed on the two or three times I met him.
