I’m feeling a tad lazy today, so you get thirteen links. Most of these are from my library-related sites I’m subscribed to, but there are a few others added as well.
- Fair Trade Certified; everything and anything Fair Trade related. That is a bit US centric, what with it being Fair Trade USA and everything, but there is also an Irish version, aBritish site, a German one, and probably a few others too.
- Wattpad - a site where you can download books onto your mobile. Haven’t tried it out yet but it could be interesting. There is also Mobipocket but you gotta pay there.
- Japanese Revolutionary Fascist Toyama Koichi - this you have to watch to appreciate. How often do you see someone running for office who proclaims that he wants to “annihilate everything that exists”?
- Library Use Value Calculator ; this does pretty much what it says. You enter in how much you use the library and it figures out how much it would cost you if you had to pay for it yourself.
- Religous Holiday Calendar; wanna know when any religious holiday falls in the next 5 years? Then off you go to this site. I don’t know why, it might prove useful I suppose.
- Science Research for when, you know, you want to research Science. Plus, it is free.
- Breaking Records, Breaking Barriers - US sports history from the Smithsonian.
- IMPAC - the short list has been announced. I have read precisely none. But I do have Sebastian Barry’s A Long Long Way waiting for me, and McCarthy’sNo Country for Old Men is one I will read at some point.
- O’Reilly Radar’s Blogging Code of Conduct - While the larger sites may need some sort of guidelines to explain to commenters, for the most part blogs should be uncensored and everything under the control of whomever it is that runs it.
- Kirigami this just sounds cool. But a lot of work.
- Giles the Donkey. The blog of Giles the Knitted Donkey. What more needs to be said.
- Slate on Ali G An old article at this stage. How Ali G keeps getting famous guests on his show.
- The Borgias: The First Crime Family

How could I not have been intrigued[1] by that mix when I saw those names flash up on the screen. I had been flicking while the dinner was on and seeing as there was nothing else on I decided, sure I may as well watch it. It being Blood Oath.
Not a terribly cheery film for a sunny-ish Wednesday afternoon, but interesting. It was made back in 1990[2] and was concerned with the tribunals held on the island of Ambon to investigate the abuse of the Australian POWs held by the Japanese there during WWII.
As a film it was a little slow, and could have done with being sharpened up here and there. However, because of the subject matter it actually worked quite well.

Linknotes:
- okay, so intrigued might be slightly too strong an expression. Mildly interested is possibly more accurate ↩
- remember when the 90s were futuristic? ↩
