FIFA

The new world rankings are up on FIFA’s site. SO the question that must be raised is “You are kidding right?”

Any football ranking system that puts the USA at number 6 must be seriously flawed. No offense US-ian peoples, but you don’t really do football [1] now do you?

In any serious match between the US and France, England, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Italy or Croatia (some of those below the USA) I’d have to bet against the states, without even thinking about it. Well, apart from the odds. I mean, maybe I’d bet on USA to win, but only if I was wagering €2 and got great odds.

But then again, apart from Mexico, are there any real football threats involved in CONCACAF?

[1] – No, American Football doesn’t count here.(back)

It's not like France has been winning anything lately, but the US at #6 (I saw 6) is just preposterous. Er, yeah, no offense… ;)
Mind you, that might have a positive effect on all the used-to-be-good teams, you never know.

It says six, the US at six. I DID not just edit the post coz I had the wrong number there, it always said six. Honestly. ;)

Yeah, I was just as surprised as you were at their ranking, so I just checked, and yeah "I saw 6". That's what I meant……………………….

    Ah. that explains everything.

I'll send the cheque in the post :)

I think FIFA have a motive here…by ranking USA so high, they will get more interest for the sport in the States. More interest = more money? "Soccer" is way behind things like American Football, Basketball, Baseball etc. Perhaps it's FIFA's way of getting their foot in the American market. BTW, I think it's outrageous since USA are now ranked above England…the shame of it! ;)

    But England are crap ;)

But less crap that the US, I'd agree.
