Episode 1.09 - written by David Fury
I haven’t reviewed an episode of Lost in a while, mainly because I’ve been getting a little bored. Every episode seems to follow the same pattern with the flashbacks and the finding out the background of whomever is in the starring role
And although this episode did have the same general structure, focusing on Sayid’s past, it fitted in really well with the rest of the storylines. I do think that some aspects of Lost are pretty obvious. I mean that whole moth storyline in the Charlie flashback episode? And Sawyer was clearly not going to be all bad.
Maybe this was more enjoyable to me because leader-boy didn’t have such a starring role. Too busy off playing golf.
Plus the introduction of the French woman. And the mention of the others, whoever they may be. What did she mean by sick? I do like the way we get hints of what may be to come. Hopefully the next few episodes will stay this good. After the moth episode I was tempted to give up.

I love women with prams who think they own the streets. The way they ram through crowds, destroying ankles and shins, really makes me smile. And groups of people, waiting for a shop to open, or a bus to arrive, I love the way they take over the entire road, forcing you to squeeze in between their cigarettes on your way through.
Chuggers who can bend time and will only take up a “short minute” of your time. My favourite people in the world.
I love students who refuse to learn how the catalogue works, who think that because we didn’t tell them in person that their book is overdue that they deserve to have their fines waived. I love the way they assume they can keep a book forever, and yet keep on taking others out.
Political rant blogs are among my favourite. I love how they constantly give out, and call each other names. Moonbats and rabid republicans are so much fun.
I adore having phones light the darkness up when I’m at the cinema. That blue glow is so helpful and attention-seeking when I’m distracted by whats going on onscreen. And people who come in late, thank you too. I love the way you always come in large groups and think you should be able to sit together, despite the fact that everyone who came on time is trying to watch the film and there are only scattered single seats left. Don’t worry about it, I love your *whispered* conversations as you try to rearrange everyone else to suit yourselves.
And I haven’t forgotten about you cyclists who think that the rules of the road don’t apply to you. I really, really love waiting for the green man, then crossing, only to have to dodge out of your way as you speed on your merry little way. You always make me smile.
Car alarms. Music of the night. How these tunes don’t make it to number one in all the charts I don’t know. All I do know is that I love lying in bed listening to them. I’m so grateful that they last so long, really lets me appreciate their fantastic harmonies.
I may add even more things to this collection of things that I love, but not right now.
