Round-Up

22 June 2005

Well the last few posts have mainly been about the “oh-so-exciting” [1] move of the blog from one location to another. So I thought I may as well give a little round-up of what’s been going on elsewhere.

On Friday my flatmate found out that she should have received a new replacement cheque-book. Trouble is that someone else did. And they’ve made off with over 7 grand. Not nice, especially considering that she discovered the problem on Friday evening when all the bank people, apart from the almost useless customer helpline, were finished work for the weekend. Since then she has gotten come thing organised, and has managed to get the 4 most recent cheques cancelled, but there is still a huge amount owing on her account. Plus she has to make a few trips to the Garda station.

This also led to her having to enquire how exactly do you address a garda [2]. She’s English you see.

Then I had a great weekend of doing nothing, found out late Sun. night that brother #1 is going to be a daddy. So I’m going to be an aunt in Jan sometime.

Work is a little on the boring side. All the apprentices have finished up, so we are pretty empty at the moment, Just shelf-tidying and weeding the collection to be done. Although news from the boss-lady is that she has been suspended. Don’t know the details, and even if I did I wouldn’t be posting them here.

Went to see Batman Begins on Sunday night with Nine Moons which I really enjoyed. And I even liked the Batmobile once I saw it in action.

And Virgin were having a closing down sale with everything half marked price, so I got two DVDs on Sat for 14 Euro. Okay, so it was The Punisher and King Arthur, but you’d almost pay that for renting them so I think it was a good deal.

1 – Anyone know any coding to indicate a sarky comment then?
2 – You just say Garda. Like you would officer or something like that

I'm behind on blog checking so I didn't realize you'd moved. I like the new digs! Off to update my links.

  2. £7k – oh my god! That is unbelievable (but I believe you obviously!) :o)

I'm having a panic attack and burning my cheque book as we speak.

Don't burn the one you have! :)

It was one sent out to her that went missing in the post. She never got it, never even knew to expect it beause she hadn't requested it, was one of those automatic send-outs.

She went into the bank yesterday and got copies (she needs them to give to the gardaí) and so hopefully it'll be sorted out soon.

  4. Arghhhh too late!!!
