Sometimes I really have to wonder about people. Not just at what goes on in reality TV shows (Paradise Hotel anyone), but in a much more serious way.
Michael Savage (never heard of him, but according to Salon he has around 6 million listeners in the US), has “taken to calling Arabs “non-humans” and has called for the U.S. to kill “thousands” of Iraqi prisoners and nuke a random Arab capital”. Now even if that is merely shock-jock attention seeking behaviour it is still scary.
People are people, there is no such thing as a non-human, or a completely evil individual. Unless of course that is a made up character on TV or in a book. People have motivations and reasons for why they act they way they do. And yes acts themselves can be evil and despicable but to call a person evil is to dismiss them as “other” and what is other doesn’t have to be understood or thought about.

has a speech on the release of those responsible for the death of Garda Jerry McCabe (apols if it is spelt with a G, have seen both versions). The full text is up on politics.ie
He makes a lot of good points (bloody FFers shouldn’t be allowed make sense), but I still don’t like the fact that FF only seem harsh of SR when election time roles around.
Make up your minds boys. Then again this is FF I’m talking about…
